Business collaboration technologies vs. Consumer collaboration technologies

In our personal life, since we have joined Facebook and Twitter, sending emails to friends and family has dwindled to a point of a rarity. But we are far better connected now than we ever were before, and at times we feel like we know more than we need to about each andevery one of them
. We are able to easily find & share information/news/blogs/videos/pictures than we ever could before, and are able to meet and hold discussions in real-time. That’s because in our personal lives we are using the best of breed tools available to us – from facebook to smartphones to twitter to Slideshare.
Over the last 15 years or so the source of technology innovation has reversed from being driven from businesses to consumers to now being driven from consumers to businesses. It used to be that all technology innovation originated in the business world, or the government, and then made its way to the consumer world – but not anymore. Thanks to the Internet, the pace of innovation in consumer technology is breath taking.

Consumer vs. Business collaboration technology gap
Unfortunately, businesses are far behind in their adoption of these innovations in the consumer space. Over the last 10-15 years the way we work has evolved. Now we work with co-workers who are dispersed across offices and time-zones or with whom we have never met. We also work from everywhere – when we are in office, at home or mobile.
However, even though the workplace has evolved, our methods of communication and collaboration at work haven’t…we still use 1st and 2nd generation tools such as Email, Bulletin Boards, Lotus notes, SharePoint etc.
So even thought in our personal life we use the 3rd generation of communication and collaboration tools, at work we are stuck using the 1st and 2nd generation tools.

History, tells us that this evolution is not a luxury but a necessity to keep our businesses competitive. So the bottom line here is that business communication and collaboration tools need to evolve to catch-up with the way we work NOW.
We designed MangoApps from the ground up to meet the needs of how knowledge workers work NOW - not how they used to work 25 years ago. We believe that by providing a tool-set that enables knowledge workers around the world to effectively share in real-time, we can unleash unprecedented productivity gains for years to come, make our communication and collaboration tool-sets current and form the foundation that’s ready for the changes that will come our way over the next 25 years.
Want to experience it? Take MangoApps for a spin across the three platforms (web, desktop or mobile) and let us know what you think.
