MangoSpring Releases the MangoTalk Client for iPhone and iPad

May 27th, 2011
MangoSpring is proud to announce a stand-alone MangoTalk client for iPhone and iPad. With MangoTalk for iPhone, the features specific to MangoTalk can be showcased in a client that is free from the clutter of unused features from other MangoApps. The result is a focused, fast, and easy-to-use communication platform that connects iPhone and iPad users to their MangoApps community when away from their computer.

MangoTalk Features

All of the most common features of MangoTalk have been included in this iPhone and iPad release. You can stay connected to your organization’s MangoTalk communication with our “Go Simple. Go Smart.” iPhone app.

A brief description and a representative screenshot from iPhone (shown below) should demonstrate the power and usefulness of MangoTalk.

Top-Level Features

Each top-level feature can be accessed via the multi-page feature grid. The default first page of the feature grid highlights the 9 most frequently used features in MangoTalk. “Slide” the screen left from the default first page to find “Settings” then “Take a Tour” feature pages. A familiar “dot” indicator denotes the current feature grid page with a white dot and other available pages with black dots.

You’ll find the following top-level features in the latest MangoTalk release:

  • Updates
Colleague status updates and activity stream feeds for all the content you follow are viewable under this feature. The ability to create a new status update or comment on one of your colleague’s feed is easily accomplished from the “Updates” feature. More advanced actions such as the ability to filter the list of feeds that are shown, “Share” a feed, “Watch” a feed, “Like” a feed, or delete one of your own feeds are also available here.
  • Direct Messages
Use the Direct Messages feature as an alternative to sending an internal email to a colleague. Advantages including notification within MangoApps, large file attachments that are searchable within MangoApps, and threaded comments and responses are “best practice” recommendations.
  • My Wall
Quickly access your “Wall” to view the activity stream feeds that colleagues have posted. All the most common actions you can take on feeds in MangoTalk are available on your wall such as commenting, watching, liking, voting on polls, and sharing.
  • Mentions
When colleagues “mention” you in a feed, this feature gives you quick access to those feeds that contain your mention.
  • Attachments
The “Attachments” feature gives you a quick list of all the documents, pictures, videos, and files that you have attached to communications within MangoTalk. The iPhone document viewer is excellent at viewing many supported document file types without leaving MangoTalk. Document file-type icons are shown along with the name of the attachment. Click any attachment to view it.
  • Chats
Active chat sessions are listed in the “Chats” feature. Switch between chats with colleagues or teams by clicking on the active chat you want to return to.
  • Colleagues
Colleagues that you follow or that follow you are listed in the “Colleagues” feature. Their online presence is shown to alert whether they are available to for an Instant Message, or whether you should choose some offline communication method like writing on their wall or sending them a direct message. MangoTalk actions for each colleague can be revealed by clicking directly on the colleague’s profile picture. Clicking on a colleagues name will open up a chat composition window for that colleague.
  • Groups
The “Groups” feature shows a list of the MangoTalk Groups that you are a member of. Chat to all of the online group members by clicking on the name of the group or reveal the other MangoTalk group actions by clicking directly on the group picture.
  • Profile
Review and Edit your MangoTalk Profile from within the “Profile” feature. Profile settings include contact information, educational background, work experience, and other optional fields.
  • Settings
Settings such as sound and visual notifications, status update location information, and push notifications are configured using the “Settings” feature. Also find some “About” information such as the version.
